Disturbed frontman David Draiman has called out Daily Show host Trevor Noah over his recent takedown of Joe Rogan. The metal singer dug up some past controversial jokes made by Noah to argue that his criticism of Rogan was “hypocritical” and “pathetic.”
Spotify recently removed more than 100 episodes of Rogan’s podcast due to misinformation and insensitive language, including the use of the N-word on multiple occasions. Over the weekend, Rogan himself apologized for using the N-word in the past, admitting it was the “the most regretful and shameful thing that [he’s] ever had to talk about publicly.” He added, “Instead of saying ‘the N-word’, I would just say the word. I thought as long as it was in context, people would understand what I was doing.”
On Monday’s episode of The Daily Show, Noah lambasted Rogan over his repeated use of the N-word, as well as a story in which the podcaster said he felt like he “walked into Africa” when he saw the movie Planet of the Apes in a predominantly Black neighborhood.
“If there’s ever a video of you saying the N-word that many times, you better pray one of two things: either you’re Black person, or you’re a dead man from history,” Noah said. “Then the worst thing they can do is take your statue down and move it into a museum. And as bad as it was to see Joe Rogan dropping the N-word like he bought it in bulk at Costco, an even worse part of the video is when Joe Rogan told a story about going to a movie in a Black neighborhood.”
