As previously indicated by her $1 million donation to help fund Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine, Dolly Parton is a woman of the people. As if we needed more proof of her philanthropic spirit, the team behind her Dollywood theme park announced this week that they’ll start covering 100% of tuition for employees who wish to further their college education, as well as the cost of extraneous fees like textbooks.
Starting February 24th, all seasonal, part-time, and full-time Dollywood employees will be eligible to enroll in the education benefits package, and all new hires after that date will be able to enroll in the program on their very first day of employment. In other words: Working nine-to-five just got a little more bearable.
“One of The Dollywood Foundation’s key tenets is to ‘learn more,'” Dollywood Company President Eugene Naughton said in a statement. “This program is created with that very tenet in mind. We want our hosts to develop themselves through advanced learning to fulfill the foundation’s other tenets: care more, dream more, and be more.”
Naughton continued: “When our hosts strive to grow themselves, it makes our business and our community a truly better place. We care about our hosts’ development and we want their future to grow because of love — not loans.”
Elsewhere in Parton news, the country legend is set to release her 48th solo album, Run, Rose, Run, on March 4th, alongside an accompanying novel of the same name.
