Amazon’s Jack Reacher series is coming back for a second season. Just days after their new adaptation of Lee Child’s beloved book series premiered on Prime Video, the studio has announced that Season 2 of Reacher is on the way.

In a press release, Amazon boasted that Reacher, which stars Alan Ritchson as the titular veteran military police investigator, quickly became Prime Video’s top five most-watched series ever in the US and globally. With all eight episodes dropping at once, Amazon also says it’s one of the most binged Original series ever.

Written by showrunner and executive producer Nick Santora, Reacher follows Jack Reacher’s transition from the military into civilian life in small-town Georgia, where he inadvertently gets caught up in a criminal conspiracy. It’s based on Child’s first Reacher novel, Killing Floor.

“The entire Reacher team — cast, production, writers, etc. — is so happy with the wonderful reception the show has received,” said Santora in a statement. “Amazon, Skydance, and Paramount have been such fantastic partners and everyone is excited to roll up their sleeves and get to work on what will be a great Season 2.”

Child added, “Partnering with Amazon Studios for Season 1 of Reacher was a total delight — they had our backs every step of the way, and it really shows, in every line and every frame. So I’m thrilled we’ll be working together again, for season two.”

In his review for Consequence, Senior Staff Writer Clint Worthington writes: “Reacher is dumb, breezy, pulpy, and it knows it. That’s the real secret to Santora’s sauce… But none of it works without Ritchson, who was practically born for this role: it’s basically impossible to look away from him, and I can’t wait to see what future seasons have in store for our bestest, biggest boy.”

Considering the 27th Reacher novel is due for release this year, there’s plenty of material to work into the Amazon series. Stay tuned here for more information about a Reacher Season 2 release date.
