Ahead of their new album Cheat Codes, Danger Mouse and Black Thought have shared a new song called “Strangers,” which features A$AP Rocky and Run The Jewels. Check it out below.
“Strangers” features a rollicking glitchy beat from Danger Mouse as Black Thought, A$AP, El-P, and Killer Mike trade verses. “We were honored to get down with our elite and legendary friends Danger Mouse, Black Thought and A$AP Rocky on this banger,” Run the Jewels said of the song. The track marks a reunion for the artists: Danger Mouse executive produced A$AP’s 2015 sophomore album AT.LONG.LAST.A$AP, and his 2017 song “Chase Me” featured Run the Jewels and Big Boi.
“Strangers” isn’t the only collab on Cheat Codes, which arrives in full August 12th. Joey Bada$$, Russ, and Dylan Cartlidge appear on “Because,” while Michael Kiwanuka helps out on “Aquamarine.”
While Danger Mouse and Black Thought prepped their album, Run the Jewels were apparently cooking up one of their own. Back in April, Killer Mike told Consequence that he and El-P had been in the studio working on Run the Jewels 5. For now, however, the duo is on the road opening for Rage Against the Machine on their long-awaited “Public Service Announcement” tour. Remaining tickets to those shows are on sale now via Ticketmaster.
