The Story, The Prizes, The Tickets

The Story

Since our inception 16 months ago, Consequence of Sound has quickly risen the ranks of the music blogosphere, currently sporting some 15,000 unique viewers a day and enough acclaim to fill a book. We’ve reported on the most talked about news, interviewed the biggest names, covered the largest music festivals, and developed a seemingly never ending database of information, spanning everything from festival lineups to the latest updates on the next reunion. Needless to say, it’s been quite a ride this last year a half, a ride many of us still haven’t really fully grasped, but one which we wouldn’t trade for the world.

In the latest step in our ultimate goal of becoming the number one source of all things music on the internet, Consequence of Sound rang in the New Year by sponsoring our first ever event, the fifth annual Tomorrow Never Knows Music Festival. Between January 14 and 18, our friends at the Schubas Music Tavern in Chicago presented a lineup of indie darlings, hometown favorites, and stellar DJs for what were five nights of music that would have pleased any music fan. This year, CoS joined in on the fun; not only were we live and on site at Schubas all week long, but we served as a proud sponsor, the first in what will be many CoS backed events.

Yes, TNK is just the beginning of what will be a very busy year for Consequence of Sound. In the coming weeks and months, we will be unveiling a number of new changes with a surprise or two mixed in between. Of course, we don’t want to ruin anything – though the banner currently rotating on the right sidebar might provide a hint – but rest assured, when complete, we will have both the support and technology to bring you the best music coverage on the web.

To celebrate this fact, and raise a bit of cash for charity, Consequence of Sound is launching its first annual Ultimate Raffle.

Here’s the basic gist. As you’ll see below, we are raffling off a number of awesome prizes, each of which is divided into seven separate tiers. By purchasing a raffle ticket, you will be eligible to win a prize from any one of these tiers. Of course, if you buy more than one ticket, you’ll have a better chance of winning, and could even possibly win more than one prize.

But that’s only the beginning. By purchasing a ticket, you’ll not only be eligible to win one of many great prizes and be supporting Consequence of Sound and all of our upcoming endeavors, but you’ll help ensure that artists continue to produce the stuff you enjoy.

Let us explain. We will be donating the profits from the raffle to Fractured Atlas, a non-profit organization based in New York that provides services and support to artists and arts organizations. More details follow:

Our programs and services facilitate the creation of art by offering vital support to the artists who produce it. We help artists and arts organizations function more effectively as businesses by providing access to funding, healthcare, education, and more, all in a context that honors their individuality and independent spirit. By nurturing today’s talented but underrepresented voices, we hope to foster a dynamic and diverse cultural landscape of tomorrow.”

Winners will be chosen at random on Sunday, February 3 and will notified at halftime of the Super Bowl. All prizes will be shipped to the winner for free.
